A root herb/spice that has been getting a lot of press lately is the
spice turmeric. A new Meta-analysis study has found turmeric is
effective in the recution of pain. This is an initial study, and more
study needs be done about this herb/spice, but it should be noted
that it has been used for centuries in folk medicines all around the
world for everything from depression to urinary tract inflammation.
It’s the kind of medicine that some would call “The Magical Medicine of the Month.” However, that does not mean that it doesn’t work.
The root component in turmeric is circumin. Which is one of the majorcomponents in ‘curry’ an indian spice known for it’s pungient flavor. Some turmeric spices may contain only 3-5% of circumen, so it is important to find out if your spice contains what you’re looking for.
